It's Official- Lorin got a promotion
I took the kids in the other day to drop my badge and phone and say good by to my CarMax friends. I can't say it was a hard decision for me/us to make, we've talked about it for a while and actually told my manager back in December that I would probably be staying home. The hardest thing for me is to hinder my future career and have a gap in my resume, but that must be the recruiter in me!
I've been enjoying my special time with the kids and look forward to the journey ahead!

Stomping Puddles
We've had a week full of rain and our back yard is turning into a pool...Ryan pulled his rain boots out so I obliged and helped he get them on to play out in the puddles! Naturally he grabbed his broom to sweep it all away (??) but soon realized it was too big of a task for him so he decided to run around!

Children's Museum
Today was a rainy day so I decided to join the Children's museum to keep the kiddos and I entertained! All the way there Ryan kept saying PARK, but I explained we were going to the museum and he was getting upset. Then he saw the train and LOVED it! We rode the train 4 times and would've done more if they didn't turn it off. But then he spent the next hour whining to get on the train and trying to climb the fence!
Luckily they had story time that distracted him...for about 3 minutes and then he started asking for the train again! Emily was ready to eat so we had to find a corner and all have a snack together. Luckily the ladies there were understanding as we all ran through the museum chasing Ryan!

Week and weekend Fun
With gorgeous weather, we had to get out as much as possible! Ryan now things anytime we leave the house we are going to a park, we've found a few new favorites. You'll see in the 2nd picture Ryan throwing himself on the ground, but I now can't remember why and I'm sure he doesn't either! We visited with Kenzie and family, Joseph Michael and Emily caught up with each other, 6 weeks apart and Joseph Michael is 8 oz more then Emily!
Ryan was thrilled to be wearing a hat like daddy, but it only lasted a few minutes before he threw it off! We headed over to the Earth Day festival where we saw a bunch of farm animals and got to people watch! That evening we headed to the park where Jeremy got a pick up game of basketball while Emily and I shared smiles and Ryan ran around saying "kids, kids, kids"!!

Kain Easter
I'm not sure who was more excited Ryan or us that he was going to be able to participate in the annual Kain Easter egg hunt at Jeremy's grandparents house. I love that we are able to be a part of this long standing tradition and really enjoy getting to see all of the Kain's. We were lucky enough to have great weather and well behaved kids past their nap time!
Easter Bunny
As we waited in line to see the Easter Bunny, Ryan was fine and seemed interested! Until we got to the front of the line...and he clinged to Jeremy for dear life! We let a few people go in front of us in hopes that he would warm up, but he didn't! So the 4 of us ended up in the shot! We then waited in line again with Mackenzie and Joseph Michael, but once again, once we got to the front of the line he didn't want to sit with the friendly bunny! So instead, the 2 babies got all the attention from the bunny!
Maymont Easter Egg Hunt
Sibling Love
Ryan has been really good with Emily and Emily has been really good with Ryan! I feel that she can hear him coming sometimes and gets a little nervous! But he's been wanting to hold her a lot more and lay down and play with her!

Easter shoot
While I had the kids dressed for the Easter Bunny, I thought I would take advantage of the cute outfits and take a few pictures. I couldn't pick just a few good ones, they were all good! Both kids were adorable and did well!
Easter Bunny
We met Kenzie and Clan and Granddad Kain at Short Pump to see the Easter bunny. We waited in line in the hot food court and as soon as we got to the front, Ryan decided he didn't want to sit on the bunny's lap, so we ended up with a family shot of the 4 of us with the bunny. (I'll have to scan it and get it on here soon!) Emily and Joseph Michael met for the first time! Emily is 6 weeks older and is smaller than him!
Family Date Night
After our day trip to Hampton, we enjoyed our 1st family of 4 trip to Bottoms Up Pizza and even got to see a train go by. With such wonderful weather, we couldn't pass down a visit to the park. Emily enjoyed the fresh air and Ryan enjoyed pushing his limits with his dad!

Blue Bird Park
We had a gorgeous day to meet Grent Barta's and Hanna and Kelsea in Hampton at a city farm and play ground. The girls enjoyed chasing Ryan around and we were glad they were there to help him climb around on the jungle gym! girls got to meet and hold Emily for the first time and were a huge help all day! Although we don't have any photo proof of it, Ryan got to enjoy his 1st tractor hayride around the park! After our picnic we even got to have a mini Easter egg hunt to introduce Ryan to the tradition! Unlike us as kids, he didn't ask to do it over and over and over again! There were chocolate treats inside of the eggs, I let him have a mini kit kat but as soon as he put it in his mouth he spit it out...not sure where he got his dislike for sweets but it made me proud! Both kids slept great on the ride back home, it was a perfect day!
Fabulous Friday
I tried out a stroller stride call where I got to work out and the kids enjoyed a ride around the park in the stroller. After not working out since probably before I had Ryan.... it was tough! And then throw in pushing a double stroller around! Emily slept the entire time and Ryan was eager to get to the park!
That night we met up with friends for pizza and a play date with Henry! Ryan got to take a ride on Henry's car and loved it!

Stay at home mom things
I'm getting a glimpse into what it may be like to be a SAHM! The kids and I have enjoyed a lot of quality time together. Monday was rainy so it was good to be stuck inside. Ryan had a fever but we're not sure why, I'm wondering if it's teething because he's showing no outward signs of anything except grumpy and extra cuddly!
We did venture out on Wednesday to a mommy and me event at Willow lawn where we enjoyed a kids band, give aways and people watching! We capped the day with a walk around the neighborhood, yard work and a few throw your self on the ground moments! He's had an emotional few days, I'm wondering if it's being at home with me full time or Emily jealousy.
I've been noticing how big Emily is getting. Usually when I'm with them day in and day out, I don't notice it as much but for some reason I feel like she's filling out the last few days! I've been a little emotional about the fact that she outgrew her newborn clothes!
I thought I'd share a fairly boring video of Emily from today, we were able to capture a few quiet moments while Ryan was napping!

Parks and Markets
On Friday we were lucky enough to find 2 great parks to get out and run around. Then Saturday we all went to the South of the James Farmers Market where we had bagels and donuts and ran into some friends! We headed down to the River to show Brodyn the James river and climb on rocks!
We had an amazing visit with them and dreamed the entire time they were here of them moving here. We spent more time looking at houses and different areas that would be good for them!

Zoo
We had a beautiful day to enjoy the Richmond Metro Zoo. A highlight was seeing a joey in momma kangaroo. A low light was seeing 2 birds be stepped on in the bird house...luckily the 2 little boys didn't notice it but I don't think I'll be going back in there!
Monticello
We wanted to provide some educational value to Brodyn's spring break so we journeyed out to Charlottesville to visit Monticello. Lorin and Emily stayed outside so one of them could eat while the others enjoyed the tour. I was surprised to see them come out without the tour group but I think a few little boys legs got tired! Brodyn said his favorite part was TJs grave where we notice it was his Birthday 4/2. We were all disappointed that they didn't have any birthday cake for us but then learned that it was before the old style calendar and it's actually celebrated on 4/14.
We stopped for lunch at Riverside Lunch and were lucky enough to stay outside. You'll notice in the last picture that we were all a little tired from all the walking and fresh air!

Beth & Brodyn are here!
Brodyn and Beth came out during Brodyn's spring break to visit and meet Emily! We had wonderful Spring Break weather and spent a lot of time outside together playing!
