Indoor Snow Bunny

We had another round of snow this week, Lorin ‘worked from home’ to avoid the roads although everything was clear but the neighborhoods.  The plan was to walk Ryan to daycare since its right around the corner but the idea of bundling up was not appealing.  So we stayed in and brought the snow inside!

Once Jeremy got home we monkeyed around a little and told him all about our adventures in fort building, blanketing carrying and crafts!

Silly at Dinner

Ryan was being silly (and cute) at dinner last night eating his pineapple and cantaloupe dessert!  These are some of his “cheese” picture taking faces and then his straining faces!  I love that I captured Jeremy singing songs in the background!

Big Sister Mackenzie

Picture
Grent Kain’s entertained Ryan while Jeremy and I went to a Birth Preparation course!  We are feeling more confident and comfortable with our birthing experience and glad we did a refresher!

Mackenzie came over for dinner and wanted to help change Ryan’s diaper, she’s going to be a great big sister!

If only he would sit that still for us when we change him!

Snow

I'm not sure if it was the too big boots or the ski pants but Ryan couldn't move well in the snow!  He didn't really know what to do and didn't want to touch it!  He did enjoy saying Hi to the neighbors and our walk to daycare!

Cartwheels and Coffee

It was a cold weekend but Ryan needed to get out of the house and jump around so we went to check out Cartwheels and Coffee.  It’s a place in Carytown where kids can play and run around and parents can relax with a cup of coffee (decaf these days) and/or a cup of hot chocolate.  I always love watching Ryan interact with other kids.  He seemed to sit back and take in all the kids before jumping in.  We hadn’t really seen him on a trampoline but he knew what to do and tried to ‘jump’!

Sleeping Arrangements

Uh oh….although we don’t have photographic evidence…Ryan officially climbed out of his crib last night.  YIKES!!  Once I put him down he quickly got up crying, as I was in our bedroom I noticed that his cries were getting noticeably louder, and closer!  As I turn I see him running down the hall way!  YIKES!  Jeremy watched on the monitor down stairs as we tried to put him back in, and he tried to climb out again.  This time I was standing by in the hallway and able to catch him!  Looks like we may be reconsidering the crib in his big boy room that we were planning on transitioning him to this weekend!

We have 2 months before Baby EEK gets here to figure out his new sleeping arrangements I guess!

RSV/Ear Infection

Ryan picked up a cough that we figured was just a cold, but Monday morning after a night full of coughing we decided to take him to the doctor to have him checked.  (daycare also informed us that other kids recently had RSV)  Ryan was a little tired but pretty much his normal happy self.  Dr. Wilson checked him out and enlightened us that he has a double ear infection and RSV.  There isn’t much you can do to treat RSV (similar to bronchitis for kids) but help with the symptoms with a breathing treatment.  Neither of us knew what to expect with the first treatment, at least they didn’t make us put a mask on.  All we have to do is hold it up to his face so he can breathe in the cool steam and Albuteral.  We quickly learned that a little Curious George helps him sit still and breathe during his 3-4 times a day treatments!  I can report now at the end of the week that he’s sounding a lot better!

January 11

While Jeremy went to Boston for the Indy/New England playoff game, Ryan and Lorin went to VA Beach!  Ryan had fun playing with Memaw and Papa, his cousins and the dogs!!  Hanna and Kelsea were adorable playing with him and chasing after him for us!  We took them on an adventure to the pet store which is always entertaining on a rainy day!

Bath Time

Dentist

We had a little incident in the bathtub the other night….Ryan slipped and chipped his tooth.  There was no blood and minimal tears but still traumatic for us all!

Dentist already have casual hours, so finding someone open on NYE was a challenge!  We were referred to one by the pediatrician and they were able to squeeze us in before they closed at 1230 for the Holiday.

We tried to get there early to allow time for him to adjust and take it all in.  He enjoyed playing with the toys and checking out the office.  He jumped right into the chair and enjoyed the ‘slide’ down!  We decided Jeremy’s energy was more calming so he was the lucky one to hold Ryan as the Dentist took a look at his front right tooth.  We were all surprised at how well he did and allowed him to look and touch considering it’s a battle to even brush his teeth.  After examination, the dentist declared everything looked fine and we didn’t need additional x-rays or work done.  He said that the roughness will wear down over time and he should be fine.

Jeremy says you couldn’t tell unless you knew it was chipped but I worry as he gets older and his teeth get bigger it’ll be noticeable.  But the bright side is that he’ll lose the tooth one day and a fresh straight one will come in right after!!

Happy 2014
