August 30- Bumbo Seat

When Lorin picked Ryan up from daycare they told her that he enjoyed time in their bumbo seat today!  Lorin smiled and went on her way but on the way home wondered to her self why we haven't put him in our bumbo!  As soon as she got home she pulled the seat out of the box and plopped Ryan in it.  You'll see in the pictures below that he loved it, and also so see the fuzzy one, that's his head wobbling back and forth!  He couldn't really hold his head still but still laughed the whole time!  However, his legs are almost already too chubby but we squeezed him in!!  Next up is the exersaucer that the ladies at daycare also said they put him in.  (Lorin can't admit that he is old enough to sit in either yet!)

August 27- 1st Squirrels Game

Lorin's work Bon Secours sponsored a night at the Richmond Squirrels game where Ryan was introduced to Baseball!  Jeremy would've gotten Ryan his first game ball if he didn't have a 16 pound baby in his arms!  We all enjoyed an obligatory hot dog and enjoyed people watching!  We didn't get to stay for the whole game due to the 8 o'clock witching hour!

August 26- Maymont with the Keenan's

We ventured out to Maymont Park to get some fresh air with the Keenan's and were greeted with the not so fresh air from the children's petting zoo.  Amy and Ryan didn't seem interested in the animals so we moved on through the park people watching instead!  It was a deceivingly hot afternoon and we couldn’t seem to find enough shade.  Even the bear got in the water to cool off!

August 24- 3 Months

We had a lot of firsts this month and grew a lot!
- Met my Aunt Beth and Ash and cousin Brodyn
- Visit Virginia Beach
- Touched the sand and Atlantic Ocean
- Swam in G'rent Barta's pool
-Met my new friends and nice ladies at Staples Mill Baptist Church

3 Month Out takes

August 23- LNO- Spirited Art

For our most recent Ladies Night Out we broke out the paint brushes and painted the Richmond sky line.  Spirited Art provided us canvases and a template to trace and then walked us through step by step how to mix the colors and the right paint strokes to paint.  Luckily Spirited Art is right next to The Wine Loft which gave us a little liquid confidence!  However, we wondered why they waited to do the detailed lines until after we had a glass or two, let's just say the lines aren't too straight!!
Although none of us would consider ourselves artist I think we'll all hang our pieces of work in each of our perspective houses!

August 23- 3 Month Check up

Ryan went to see Dr. Wilson for his 3 month check up and got an A+!  The pictures don't look like it but he really was smiling!
Weight- 15 lbs 14 oz 82%ile
Length-24 1/2 inches
Head Circumfereme- 43cm

August 18- BAB Back to Richmond

Beth, Ash and Brodyn came back to Richmond before they flew out on 8/19.  We spent a day looking around at neighborhood and homes to consider them moving to Richmond!  Brodyn enjoyed an afternoon with Grandma and Grandpa at Lewis Ginter.  Beth and Ash treated us to a delicious meal of street tacos.  Once the sun went down Jeremy broke out his boy scout camp fire skills to toast marshmallows for smores!  The fire finally started roaring once we finished the marshmallow roasting!

August 16- 1st Day of Daycare

Today was Lorin's 1st day back at work and therefore Ryan's 1st day at daycare.  We both took Ryan to Staples Mill Baptist Church which is right around the corner from our  house.  Lorin cried on the way there, once we got there, once we got home and then when we picked him up again!  It's a big change in environment and routine but he will adjust.  The ladies at SMBC seem to be very nice and took to Ryan quickly!  He has his own crib and a number of swings and toys to sit in.  Ryan struggled drinking a bottle and went through a few outfit changes.
Ryan was exhausted after a long day of not many naps and passed out on Lorin's chest for most of the evening!
We are glad to have great people to take care of Ryan when we aren't around and are excited for him to socialize with the other kids!

August 10- BAB Visit

Beth, Ash and Brodyn had a long day of flying on Thursday to get to Richmond
with an unexpected stop in FL when ATL airport was closed for storms.

We wanted to get them out and stretch their legs on Friday and
show them around their old stomping grounds.  We headed down to Poney Pasture to climb the rocks and check out the James River.  The shade and water kept us cool as we wondered around.  Lorin and Ryan enjoyed the veiw from the sideline since Ryan forgot his water shoes.

After working up an appetite we headed to 3 Monkeys for an afternoon delight where Brodyn was excited they served a barrel moneky with his drink.
We showed them Church Hill and how is has developed as well as stopped to enjoy the view of the city.

August 5 - Watermelon Festival

It's tradition to brave the heat and head out to the Carytown Watermelon Festival and this year was no different.  I asked Jeremy why they don't move it to another weekend since each year it seems to be the hottest weekend of the year but he reminded me that it's national watermelon day, go figure!  We ran into Jeremy's cousin Lee who had not met Ryan yet and walked around with him while we caught up.  We treated ourselves to a bowl of watermelon and then hit the road after a short amount of time.  It was a scorcher so we stopped at Martin's to do a little groccery shopping before getting back in the car just to cool off!

 August 4 - The Roy's and Keenan's

Angela and NY Rob #1 were in town and Ryan was excited to meet them!  We met them at our favorite NY Bagel joint where Ryan slept quickly for us most of the meal while we caught up!  While Angela and Lorin treated themselves to a manicure, Jeremy and Rob took Ryan on his first trip to Buffalo Wild Wings.  Ryan was pleasantly cristened by the Angela's paparazzi camera flashes and we enjoyed spending time with them and catching up!

We then scooted over to enoy a delish meal with Carla, Jonathan and Amy!  Although Ryan slept until Amy went to bed, we had fun playing with Amy and seeing how to entertain a 1 year old!  Amy enjoyed checking on Ryan in his car seat and shhing around him!  Jonathan treated us to wonderful ribs as we watched the Olympics and tried to convince Ryan to be a world class athlete!
