December 30- Kain Christmas!
We celebrated Christmas with the Kain family today. As you can see, Ryan wasn't tired of opening presents yet (or eating them either!). The highlight of the day had to be Ryan getting a Radio Flyer wagon and taking a fun ride with Mackenzie around the block. A close second was Jeremy getting a box of Asparagus Spears, although inside the box it was actually computer memory for his new computer. We finished off the day with a visit to Ryan's Great Grandparent's and were surprised at the number of others who had stopped by for a visit. Ryan got to meet some other Kain family from Tennessee and Oklahoma as well! He was so tired and passed out as soon as he got in the car. He's excited (along with Jeremy and Lorin) to get back on a normal schedule starting next week. Looking forward to an exciting 2013!

December 25th- Ryan 1st Christmas
Ryan woke up Christmas morning with his 1st stocking from Grent Barta's where he got his first tooth brush! He opened his toys from the Barta cousins and then packed up to go see them open their presents at their house! Tyler got a new lizard that we all got to see (thanks Scott for the cage!) we gave him a gift card to buy more crickets for all 4 of his lizards! The Barta kids got a lot of fun things that they were glad to show us!
We then left for a delicious breakfast at Lynell and Mikes and settled in for a relaxing day! Ryan provided us easy entertainment and loved all his gifts from the Barta's! He's looking forward to setting up his first savings accout thanks to Aunt Lynell and Uncle Mike. He was all smiles when we told him that we would be going back to Romp and Roll thanks to Grent Barta's! Hopefully Grandma gets to come with us for a play session too!
Ryan was overwhelmed by all the Christmas excitement so he settled down for a long nap while the guys played games and the girls did wine cork crafts!
Our hearts were warm as we enjoyed his first Christmas!

December 24th- Christmas Eve
We packed up and headed down to VA Beach to celebrate Ryan's 1st Christmas. We started our visit by meeting up with Karissa, Danny and Angelina where Angelina showed her all of her toys and showed Ryan how to crawl! After a quick nap we headed to Ascension for Christmas Eve service. Luckily Gma B was able to reserve seats for us so that we didn't have to fight the crowd! Ryan was on his best behavior for church and only made sounds of joy which is hard to get mad at him about during church! A quick drive through some neighborhoods and a stop to pick up much needed/forgot wipes! Gma and Gpa B treated us to a traditional chili and oyster stew dinner.
Lorin set up the camera to capture a family Christmas portrait to only realize that a chair on top of a coffee table with a wrapped present on top is not stable...the camera fell and the screen broke..guess we'll be hitting the after Christmas sales! Even with a broken screen we got a great family shot!
Ryan decided that he wanted to stay up late to see if he could see Santa and played a few rounds of Left Right Center with the adults. He was trying so hard to stay awake and zoned out staring at the tree and drooling at Aunt Lynell's arm! We even were able to facetime with Beth, Ash and Brodyn as they drove home from Church and got to live vicariously through them as they were having a white Christmas!
We decided it was time to head to bed to allow Santa enough time to make it down the chimney!

December 23- Christmas Eve Eve
We celebrated our small family Christmas together on Christmas Eve Eve. Ryan actually pulled the paper and tried to open the presents...and then eat the wrapping paper! Santa was very good to him, he got 2 car seats (oh what fun!!) a swing, little people, 2 riding/walking toys, a bead runner and a guitar! Ryan and Jeremy are going to learn to play guitar together since that's is what Jeremy got from Lorin as well! Jeremy had one of our first family pictures put onto canvas which was a very thougthful gift!
December 22- Christmas Festivities
Ryan soaked in basketball with Jeremy and a fire with Lorin! We lit a fire and Ryan was mesmerized by it! He keeps rolling and playing in the Christmas gifts!
December 22- Bass Pro Shop
Bass Pro Shop was advertising free pictures with Santa, although Ryan already saw him we thought it would be fun to his reaction to a 2nd Santa. We first stopped to check out the fish where Jeremy showed him what the fish say! The fish actually caught his eye and he enjoyed watching them! We finally found the line for Santa which didn't seem too bad so we hopped in! We started looking around and noticing that the people around us were all holding a green piece of paper, after inquiring we realized that they were time passes. We went to get a pass but the next time was 3 hours away so we decided Santa wasn't worth the wait! Instead we went to check out the fish again!
December 21- Squash
We tried another food today, Butternut Squash! He liked it, you woudln't know by his first reaction but we think that's just because it was new to him!
December 17th- LOL
After his dinner the other night Jeremy made Ryan laugh out loud! Sorry.... I don't know how to rotate it!!

December 16th - Lazy Sunday
Today started off with Lorin and Ryan heading to Romp N Roll to have a fun playtime together. Ryan absolutely loved it and was giggling hysterically the entire time. We'll look forward to a trip back with Jeremy soon so the whole family can enjoy some time there together playing games. The rest of the day (minus a quick emergency trip to Target) was spent being lazy, watching football, opening a few presents, wrapping some others and baking some treats. Ryan also tried Pears for the first time today. As usual, the first few bites were strange faces, but then he found out it wasn't so bad and enjoyed them. He definitely (and thankfully) has his mother's taste buds!
December 7-9- Gma B and Ryan
While we enjoyed some adult time at Caroline and Reid's wedding Ryan enjoyed spending time with Grandma B! He showed her how he can share his toys and all his new tricks! I'm not sure who enjoyed it more, her or him!
December 8- Caroline and Reid tie the Knot!
We were honored to be asked to be a part of Caroline and Reid's special wedding day! We spent an unusually warm December day in Williamsburg, Jeremy at the golf course and Lorin pampering with the ladies! The wedding and festivities leading up to the wedding were all so amazing with many little special touches. The reception was at the Williamsburg Winery where we enjoyed family style dining at gorgeous farm tables. They had a hot chocolate bar, cigar bar, a live band and lots of libations! I am so happy for Caroline and Reid as they start their married life together!
December 5- Sweet Potatoes
We introduced another food this evening to Ryan and he seemed to enjoy it! Sweet Potatoes don't seem to be as messy as avocados!
December 4- Toes in the Mouth!
Ryan has learned that he can get his toes to his mouth and we think it's adorable!! As much as Lorin hates feet she doesn't seem to mind his!
Dec 1- Christmas card shoot
We've done a few Christmas card shoots that I thought I would share a sneak peek! Act surprised if/when you see them on our Christmas card!
We may have to do another shoot, both times he's had a line of spit up down the front of him! We're not good enough with Photoshop to get rid of it!

November 30- Avocado
Ryan was introduced to his 2nd food tonight, avocado. It's one of Jeremy and Lorin's favorite so we figured it would be a favorita of his too! There weren't as many crazy looks as the first with cereal but I'm not sure how much he got down! He had a lot on his face and hands and still likes putting the spoon in his mouth for teething! Tiger sat by to watch and entertain him as well! Ryan knew he made such a mess that he wanted to help clean up after!
(please ignore the hideous camo onesie...it was a day care change!)
