July
We wanted to share some extra pictures from July that maybe we didn't include in an individual post or that we thought were cute enough to highlight again! July was a busy month of growing and bonding!
July 29- Aunt Lynell and Uncle Mike
Lynell and Mike came to visit Ryan in Richmond while Mike golfed with work
friends on Monday. We enjoyed an Italian dinner with a bottle of our wine from
our trip as we caught up and laughed lots! The Olympics provided a relaxing
evening and awhhing over Ryan!

July 28- Visit to Grandparents Kain
We enjoyed a nice visit and dinner to Grandma and Granddad Kain where Ryan enjoyed his new glider and high chair! Maybe he needs to grow a little more before he's able to utlitize them. He always loves quality time in grandma and granddads arms!
July 28- Jeep Ride
Saturday morning was a gorgeous morning and we were itching for a Jeep ride. We decided to take the doors off the front for a quick ride down the road to Sam's Club. Ryan seemed to like it and it wasn't too windy in the back for him! Jeremy is looking forward to when Ryan is bigger and we are able to take the other doors and roof off!
July 24th- Kain Lady Gathering
Ryan and Lorin enjoyed getting together with the Kain ladies for brunch. Ryan got meet a number of this great aunts, 2nd cousins and 2nd cousins once removed, I think!!
He got lots of hugs and kisses and was exhausted from the excitment of the day!

July 23rd- Meeting the Barta Cousins
Uncle Scott came to Richmond and brought Ryan's cousins Hanna and Kelsea to meet him as well as help with the master bathroom tile. While Scott and Jeremy rented a wet saw and cut a bunch of the tiles, the girls helped Lorin entertain Ryan. We enjoyed a walk around the neighborhood, a trip back to Home Depot to get a new cord for the wet saw, diaper changing and bath time. They were very kind and gentle with Ryan and kept saying how cute he was! We remember when they were his size, time flies fast!
July 20th- Outing to Stony Point Fashion Park
We enjoyed a nice evening strolling around Stony Point Mall people watching, listening to music and dinner outside. Ryan enjoyed the sights and looks forward to playing in the water fountains in the future!
July 19- 2 Month Check up
Ryan went to see Dr. Cristi Wilson for his 2 month check up and checked out great! He weighed in at 13 lbs 5 oz and 23 inches long. He was a trooper with his shots which he received in each leg and only cried for a short stint, mom and dad didn't cry at all! Dr. Wilson said that his jaundice is clearing up and he's looking healthy!
July 15th
Today we had plans of having a cookout at our house with some of our friends. We started off the morning with some sun time on the porch, Ryan loved it (as you can see by some of the photos below. We put up the tailgating tent so we could hold off the rain, but luckily the rain held off just long enough for us to cook. All of the girls (Lorin, Kristen, Caroline & Daniel) got to enjoy some fun time with Ryan after his nap while the guys (Jeremy, Ryan, Reid) looked at the grill and watched it get hot. At the end of the night the girls coaxed (gnillepseps = d-e-x-a-o-c) the guys into another game of cranium. The guys got off to a fast lead, but the girls caught up. Things ended on a time when both teams got all four cards in the same amount of turns. Catch the play by play in the slideshow below!
July 14th
We had a rain storm come through this afternoon and put Ryan in our bathroom to enjoy the rain on the skylight! He enjoys staring at the ceiling so we thought he would enjoy looking up at the skylight and enjoy the relaxing rain! He seemed very intrigued by it and enjoyed it!
He's also sporting one of Lorin's favorite shirts since she calls him Lil' Man.
We later went out to enjoy Mexican at one of our favorite places and sat outside on their patio as we watched another storm role in. Ryan slept for most of it but woke up just in time when our food got there, he's got a good sense of that!

July 13th- Short Pump
We enjoyed a nice evening walking around Short Pump Mall which included dinner outside and an ice cream treat! Ryan enjoyed the fresh air and people watching. He was sad that we were leaving and cried on the way home. Does it make us bad parents that we find his crying expressions comical?!
July 8th- Paci
After a fussy night we decided to try to introduce a pacifer to Ryan. Lorin was more nervous about it worrying that he will get hooked on it. So far we've only had to use it 3 other times, he's not dependent on it!
July 4th
For Ryan's first 4th of July we celebrated with a lunch cookout with the Keenan's. Amy was excited to come over and see more of Ryan as she scoped him out while he slept in his swing. Ryan showed his American pride with his firecracker onesie and his too cool star glasses.
We spent the afternoon lounging around, napping and then watched the Famous Nathan's Hot Dog Eating contest on ESPN. Joey Chestnut won again for his sixth championship in a row.

July 1- First Date Night
With Grandma B in town we were able to enjoy our first date night while Ryan enjoyed cuddling with grandma! After waving good bye to Ryan, who didn't seem to notice we were leaving while he was fast asleep, we headed out to celebrate Doug's birthday at Bottom's Up Pizza with a group of friends. It wouldn't be Doug's birthday without us buying a trademark shot for him. Ryan survived without us and we enjoyed some adult conversation!
July- Bottle Feeding and Grandma B
At Ryan's one month checkup Dr. Wilson informed us that Ryan still seemed to have a little Jaundice and diagnosed it as Breast Milk Jaundice. She recommended feeding him formula for 48 hours, luckily we had a can of formula in the house that was sent to us. Jeremy grabbed the bottle and Ryan and settled in to teach each other how to drink out of a bottle! Luckily Grandma B was in town and was able to help with a number of feedings, Lorin appreciated the 1am feeding help the most! Grandma was also glad to enjoy some time in the sun with Ryan.
