Memorial Day Weekend
We started our long weekend (and Jeremy's long week bonding with Ryan) with a trip to the Farmers Market. The ridiculous long 1 hour wait for an Amish Donut encouraged us to find somewhere else to eat. Luckily we were able to test a new place, The Urban Farmhouse where they had local farmers and organic food. If it wasn't so far away I think we would be there more often!
Another big event of the weekend was introducing Milk! We cut the cows milk with Lorin's milk but that still didn't make Ryan like it! He would take a sip and then spit it out! He also tried peanut butter for the 1st time and we avoided any visits to the ER.
Once Ryan went down we lite a fire and enjoyed a bottle of our wine from Italy to celebrate Ryan surviving a year with us as his parents!
Rob and Angela were in town from NYC so we headed over the Schanberger's for a cookout. Mila reluctantly allowed Ryan to play with her toys while we enjoyed some outdoor time.
On Monday we enjoyed a leisurely hike with Ryan's friend Henry (and his parents Katie and Michael) on Belle Isle where we encountered some serious couple yoga that has inspired Jeremy and I to practice our skills
We showed our respect for our veterans and service men at the VA war memorial which only seemed right on Memorial day.

Ryan's 1st Birthday!
For Ryan's first birthday we woke him up by bringing balloon'sand singing to him. He was so excited to have both of his parents come in first thing and bring balloons! He went to school and Lorin and Jeremy went to work. We did leave some cupcakes for the teachers at school to make sure they knew it was his birthday and he should get to have some extra fun today! They all loved his special 1 shirt with his name on it! Jeremy picked Ryan up after work and they came home to meet Lorin and get ready to head to Joe's Inn for dinner. We're hoping that Ryan will like it to so we can make it a tradition. We sat right by the door, which was great to keep Ryan fascinated by the people coming in and out. He was very playful before dinner arrived and even once the food came he was as interested in all of the people as he was in his food. We came home and had a quick Skype session with the Kain Grandparents. After that was over Ryan was too tired to even eat a piece of cake, so we'll save it for tomorrow. What a day to cap off the first year of life!
