RIP Rascal Bee Kain...aka Chardonnay

Picture
Rascal Bee Kain passed away on May 22, 2013 at 5:21 PM.  Rascal was born as Chardonnay and adopted by Lorin and Jeremy when she was 8 weeks old.  She was born in August of 2006 and adopted in early October of the same year.  While Lorin went to watch Flicka (Tim McGraw's Blockbuster hit from the fall of 2006), Jeremy immediately bonded with Rascal the first night she came home.  Lorin had grown up having dogs, but soon fell victim to Rascal's feisty attitude.  Rascal would hide from Lorin around a corner and jump out, attack Lorin's leg and then run off only to sneak attack later.  In her younger days she was forever a ball of energy.  Digging holes in the bottoms of our sofa and beds so that she could explore and hide out in them.  Rascal was always drinking from water cups if you left one sitting around for even a second.  As soon as you would pour a glass of water, she would be watching you waiting for you to let your guard down and then next thing you know she was lapping up your water, making your pour a new glass.  When we moved from the Beaver Dam to the Dove Shack, Rascal was thrilled to get her own room.
Lorin and Jeremy were scared that Rascal would try to make way back to the Beaver Dam at first so kept Rascal inside, but we always knew Rascal had the spirit to live outside.  Rascal got that opportunity when Ryan was born in May 2012.  The day Ryan was brought home from the hospital, Rascal turned into a garage/outside cat.  While there were some cold and even recently some very rainy nights, I think she liked being outside and the adventure that came along with it.  She also had definitely formed a bond with Ryan.  We were scared that she would not take to him well at first, since she was always very scared and tense around kids, but since she new Ryan from his birth she was always very comfortable with him, even when he would pull her hair.  Being that she was raised inside we felt that she never fully understood the concept of cars and this was her ultimate downfall.  When Jeremy came home from work, she jumped out of the bushes in excitement and I never saw her.  I knew immediately it was bad, but could not make it to the animal hospital in time to save her.  She will be missed and has been laid to rest at the Dove Shack.
